Insurance and
Out-of-Network Benefits

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly.

As a therapist who centers queer experiences, I’ve chosen to work outside of insurance networks to provide care that is truly affirming, confidential, and grounded in your unique identity—not shaped by insurance limitations. This approach allows us to prioritize what you need, rather than what an insurance company thinks therapy should look like.

Using your out-of-network benefits

While I am private pay, many insurance plans (PPO) will reimburse you for a significant portion of the fee (often 50–80%). I provide a monthly document called a Superbill that you can submit for reimbursement. I always encourage checking with your insurance provider to see what’s covered prior to our first session so you know what your options are.

How to Check Your OON Coverage:

Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask these three questions:

  1. "Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health?"

  2. "What is my deductible, and has it been met?"

  3. "What is the reimbursement rate for CPT code 90837?"

My priority is to create a space where queer folks can show up fully—without feeling pathologized, rushed, or boxed in by insurance systems. If that resonates with you, I’d love to connect.

I've created an infographic to help you consider some of the advantages and disadvantages of using insurance benefits for mental health services. My goal is to support you in feeling empowered to make an informed decision regarding your care.

Cancellation Policy & Mutual Respect

Consistency is the container that makes therapy work.

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you.

I ask for 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

Late Cancellations/No-Shows: Because I cannot fill this spot on short notice, appointments canceled within 24 hours will be charged the full session fee. A credit card is required to be kept on file to secure your appointment and facilitate this policy.

I understand that emergencies and illness happen. Please communicate with me as soon as possible if a crisis arises.

Evening & Weekend Availability

I understand that prioritizing therapy is hard when you work 9-5. I offer Sunday and evening appointments to ensure therapy fits into your life, not the other way around.

Sunday: 9am - 2pm

Monday: 11am - 6pm

Wednesday: 11am - 6pm
