Mindful Alchemy Counseling, LLC
Policies, Fees, and Insurance
Fees
My standard fee for a 50 minute individual therapy session is $175. Payment is due at time of the appointment.
Prior to starting therapy, we will discuss typical rates for services and you will receive my full fee schedule through your "Good Faith Estimate" prior to our first appointment. Fees are discussed prior to scheduling our first appointment so you are aware of the cost of therapy and the investment you will be making in the process.
Insurance
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance.

As a therapist who centers queer experiences, I’ve chosen to work outside of insurance networks to provide care that is truly affirming, confidential, and grounded in your unique identity—not shaped by insurance limitations. This approach allows us to prioritize what you need, rather than what an insurance company thinks therapy should look like.

In-Network vs. Out-of-Network: What’s the Difference?

In-Network Providers
Pros:
-
Lower upfront cost
-
Insurance handles most billing
Cons:
-
Insurance may require a formal diagnosis, which becomes part of your permanent medical record
-
Limited session numbers or frequency, which may not align with your healing process
-
Often less flexibility to explore identity, trauma, or life transitions outside of diagnostic criteria
-
Must adhere to insurance guidelines which often restricts treatment methods and pacing of services
-
Therapist options are limited to those contracted with your insurance company

Out-of-Network Providers (Like Me)
Pros:
-
No need to meet insurance-defined “medical necessity” to get support
-
Greater flexibility in how we work together—no restrictions on session topics, frequency, or length of care
-
Enhanced privacy and confidentiality (nothing is reported to insurance)
-
Space to explore your identity, relationships, and mental health at a pace and depth that feels right for you
Cons:
-
Higher out-of-pocket cost (though many plans offer out-of-network reimbursement)
-
You’re responsible for submitting claims if you choose to seek reimbursement

While I don’t bill insurance directly, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance if you have out-of-network benefits. I always encourage checking with your provider to see what’s covered prior to our first session so you know what your options are.

My priority is to create a space where queer folks can show up fully—without feeling pathologized, rushed, or boxed in by insurance systems. If that resonates with you, I’d love to connect.

I maintain a certain number of reduced rate slots to ensure therapy services are accessible to more individuals. If you are interested in exploring reduced rate, please let me know during our consultation call.
When I schedule clients, I reserve that hour for that individual and so cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are subject to the full session fee. Unexpected things happen to all of us and can interfere with the best of intentions. With that being acknowledged, if I am able to reschedule you within 7 days of the scheduled appointment, late cancellation policy may be waived. This is subject to availability of open appointment slots and I may not always be able to accommodate a reschedule in which case, the client would owe the full session fee.

No shows for appointments are subject to the full session fee.
Credit card, HSA/FSA cards, cash, or check payments are all accepted. I require a card be kept on file in case of late cancellations or no shows for appointments.
